Hiking Hawaii began as a small tour company offering a local perspective on the island of Oʻahu. Unlike large tour companies that shuttle numerous visitors to popular destinations via buses, Hiking Hawaii prioritized sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. They utilized fuel-efficient vehicles and provided reusable water bottles to hikers, quickly establishing themselves as more than just a tour company.
Hiking Hawaii started serving simple, healthy sandwiches and snacks to hikers after their treks and soon evolved into a full-fledged café. They received awards for their vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dishes, and their relaxed atmosphere attracted a loyal customer base. After three years, they relocated to Double Tree Alana to accommodate more customers, continuing to make all salad dressings and sauces from scratch.
Today, Hiking Hawaii is proud to be a landmark in Waikīkī, maintaining their commitment to sustainability and community collaboration. They partner with other eco-friendly local businesses, including Kahumana, Hawaiian Paradise Coffee, Sky Kombucha, and Baker Dudes.
