Michel’s at the Colony Surf has been a symbol of fine dining in Honolulu since 1962. Located on the most intimate stretch of pristine sand in Waikiki, the restaurant has inspired romance across generations.
Legendary restaurateur and host Michel Martin gained fame for bringing exquisite French cuisine to Hawaii. During World War II, he opened Michel’s in Wahiawa, where he grew up, near Schofield Barracks. In 1962, Michel’s relocated to the newly built Colony Surf Hotel on the quiet end of Kalakaua Avenue near Diamond Head, where it has remained ever since.
Combining Hawaiian hospitality and top-notch service with Chef Hardy’s classic European menu, Michel’s has created an experience that continues to attract guests who are now considered part of the family, or ohana.
